Two thousand guests are watching the deadliest live event on earth. They think the screaming is part of the show.
Serenique Island. Eight elite special-forces teams. Ten days of the Warrior Games: live opposition, cameras on every rooftop, and plastic rounds that score a hit and never draw blood.
Master Sergeant Eli Drake came to win. SAS Sergeant Simon Cross came with orders he won’t share. Two years ago in Syria, Drake charged and Cross held, and a good man died in the alley between them. They haven’t spoken since.
Then, at hour twelve of the Crucible, the opposing force stops shooting and starts running. The rounds do nothing. The scoreboard keeps saying NEUTRALIZED. And up in the stands, the guests raise their glasses.
Now the two men who can’t stand each other have plastic in their rifles, an island burning with fever and hunting anything warm that moves, and a buyer with a plane and the only cure. To get their people off Serenique alive, Drake will have to learn to stand still. Cross will have to learn to move.
DEAD GAMES is the first Drake & Cross thriller: special forces against the dead, played for keeps.
