The latest version of Claude just dropped. As an experiment I used it to convert a massive script treatment outline I’d written for a movie based on the first marathon. Legendary yarn about a runner who hoofed it from Athens to Sparta and back again in just a few days to save Greece from a Persian invasion.
This project was originally written as a mid-budget historical adventure. The material was from the main character’s point of view with some flashbacks and a few cutaways, but nothing that would push the budget too far.
I shopped it around with an A-list star attached but got no takers. At the time the take was that nobody wants to see movies like this. (I’m looking forward to The Odyssey this summer. Oh well.)
Claude did a great job using as much of my prose as possible and reframing it as a yarn told by one of the characters looking back on her childhood. I used this POV because I didn’t have much dialogue in the original and didn’t want Claude to create any.
I took the document into Eleven Labs and used their audiobook tools to generate the voices. It turned out pretty cool. It was both weird and awesome to hear my words revised in this new format.
Trying to figure out all this stuff with the hope that in the future I can have fun with all the scripts and stories taking up space on my hard drive. I haven’t spent time learning any of the AI filmmaking tools or techniques because I feel that space is changing too rapidly at the moment. Maybe something like Google’s new world creation tool could help me bring the story to life in some kind of experiential story format.
If this is what I can do with an outline and pitch, I wonder what I can do with a full screenplay. Assign voices to each character?
