I’ve been messing around with AI lately, trying to see if it can help with my writing. Sometimes, it’s been more about procrastinating than getting stuff done, but I figured something out that’s cool.
I hate staring at a blank screen, trying to come up with the perfect scene or character arc, and it’s not happening. But I’m trying a new way that makes it a bit easier to move the ball down the field.
I’ve whipped up a bunch of questions that get down to the metal of what makes a scene or character work. They’re based on all the stuff I’ve got into the blog. I fed the whole blog into an LLM and asked it to spit out questionnaires for scenes, sequels, characters, story, etc.
I can use the prompts as is to guide my development. But if I’ve got an outline, doesn’t even need to be too detailed, I toss it over to the LLM. The AI takes my questionnaire and tweaks them to fit my specific project, asking me stuff like what the characters are up to in a certain scene, where they are in their overall story, and what they’ve been doing earlier on.
These personalized questions are like a GPS for my writing, helping me stay on track and actually make progress in my story. Not only has it sped things up, but I feel like it’s also helped me add more layers and depth to my work. There’s something about the process that takes the pressure off.
